Local storage only

QuickNotes – Books stores your books, notes, tags, ratings, and cover images locally on your device using a fast on-device database (Drift). We do not collect personal information, require user accounts, or use analytics services.

Network connections

• Open Library (optional): When you search for a book, the app retrieves public book metadata from the Open Library API. No personal identifiers are sent.
• Ads: A small banner will be present above the menu and can be removed in the settings tab for a one time fee. No full page ads or time wasters will get in the way of you enjoying the app at any time.

Cover images

The user has the option of what image to display for each book. Book covers and artwork can be copyrighted material so proceed with caution. The user can:

take a picture with their camera

link to a file they made or downloaded

link directly to a URL

leave it blank

The Open Library's policy, allows direct links to their URL. If the user chooses to add a book by (Open Library lookup, this option is used by default.

However, the user is in control. The user covers are stored (compressed) on your device and are never uploaded.

Export and backup

You may export JSON or CSV backups at any time. Backups remain on your device unless you explicitly share them.
